The lake level is 554.19 and has dropped 1-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours. They run the one operating generator for about 8-hours, shut it off and slowed the spillway gates down to an equivalent of about 1/2 generator. The White River is at 9.40 feet and dropping. The surface water temperature is 59-degrees and quit rising with this latest cold front. It is to be very cool for the next couple of days. The water has completely cleared up again from the big rain last week but the creeks are stained a little green but a good color for fishing. We missed the last storm on Monday but they got some tough weather just west of us and also North. It was windy and cool yesterday. I am not a fan of the wind. A little Walleye chop is not bad but not any more than that. I am very glad March is over and we can start to look forward to better fishing. The top-water bite for bass, White Bass and Stripers will start soon. A good place to start is Panther Creek. They like it there early. I am catching some walleye around the Cranfield Island area and some Crappie in Briar Creek and back in Pigeon just before the bridge. Some Bass are still on main lake points on brush and some are back in the creeks near any cover. The lake overall is in excellent condition and at a good level but fishing is hit and miss with some nice ones being caught everyday. White Bass fishing is getting better but I do not fish for them much. No news on Catfish but early May is an excellent time. People fishing everyday are only bragging about every three days because these persistent cold fronts really slow the bite and then it gets better again. Blackburns Reisort and Boat Rental is working hard on it's policy of continuous improvement and  things are looking good here with no price increases for 2024. We are still the home of the $59/day one bedroom cabins with 2,3,4 bedrooms prices accordingly. I waited until after the big Easter Egg hunt to mow the grass but now is the time. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and we will not charge you too much. A free stall for your boat at our big dock comes with the cabin.
