The lake level is 555.55 and has risen 2-1/3rd inches in the last 24-hours. They started up the one operating generator at 9:AM this morning after being shut down all night but have spillway gates open to an equivalent to 1-2/3rds generator. That is quite a bit of water release. The White River at Newport is 12.17 feet and rising. They can take it up to 23-feet if they want to without any problem anywhere. The surface water temperature is 53 degrees and remains stubbornly low. We had below freezing temperatures last night.  That should change this weekend with ambient temperature almost reaching 80. The warm nights will help things the most.  It was cold and breezy yesterday and our guests report having a difficult time catching fish. One was trolling and caught a couple of crappie and a smallmouth bass. The mud is starting to fall out of the water in this area already in the creeks and is not nearly as brown as it was. Some will be coming south with the current caused by the heavy generation but I hope it mostly drops out before it gets here. I do not expect much debris this far down. Maybe some floating small stuff but we will find out soon. The fishing will pick up soon as the top-water bite approaches. There was not much of a night bite for Stripers and some White Bass have started to move south after the spawn. I am ready for catfishing but it is not time yet. This is as high as I want the water to get. I need to mow the yard but am waiting until after our Easter Egg hunt on Saturday. The resort guests really appreciate it and the children have a  lot of fun with some nice gifts and hundreds of eggs. It will be our 25th annual. Some were toddlers when we started and now have children of their own. Blackburns still is the home of the $59/day one bedroom cabins and $79/day two bedrooms. 3&4 bedrooms are priced accordingly. A free stall for your boat comes with the cabin at our dock. Come on down. We will not charge you too much. Why pay more? It is nice here. Debbie, Jennifer and Amy have been working hard all winter to make things better and we are ready for your visit. If it does not move they paint it.
