The lake level is 553.58 and is down 1/4 inch in the last 24-hours. They run the one operating generator about four hours and then shut everything down again. We are 2-inches below the top of the power pool. The water remains clear and I could see my lure down about 9-feet yesterday on the main lake and 4-5 feet in the creeks. The surface water temperature is 52-degrees on the main lake and mid 50's in the creeks. It gets warmer as you go back. You have to set in one place for a few minutes to get an accurate water temperature. Stick baits are starting to work and grubs and minnows near any wood in the creeks. I caught a couple of crappie and bass but fishing was still not good. The open water striper fishermen seem to be gone. Just before full moon, which is the 25th, should bring some stripers to their spawning banks at dark. Earlier in the evening fish walleye on shadowy banks with a soft plastic until just before dark and switch to the stick bait while you can still see and make sure it is running true. If it pulls to one side you will not catch anything.Try just North of Cranfield Island by the walleye rearing pond and also across from Quarry Marina on the Thumb Point bank. The walleye usually quit at dark this time of year but will be shallow. I caught one just short yesterday. Look for the warmest water. I opened four more cabins yesterday and will start working on the rest this afternoon. The girls are working hard to get them ready as the phone is ringing constantly with several new customers. They are saying they are tired of people raising prices on them and they just cannot afford anymore. There will be no price increases at Blackburns in 2024. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. You will like it here. We are the home of the $59/day one bedroom cabins and they come with a free stall for your boat at our dock. No hidden charges.
