The lake level is 553.49 and has tisen 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with no discharge from the dam except minimum flow We reveived 1-inch of rain in the last 24-hours. It came slow with no wind and all sunk in. The White River at Newport is 1.61 feet and about ready to dry up. Very little water is being released into the White River anywhere. The surface water temperature is 54 degrees but should drop with the upcoming cold weather with highs in the 40's and lows inthe 20's. We have had no winter yet. The lake overall in in excellent condition and at a good level but there is not much room for the spring rains. I would really like the lake to drop about 5-feet but they refuse to do so. The generators are still inoperable but I suspect it has more to do with dam repair than generator repair. It would be nice to know but they do not report to anybody and there is no accountability. They do what they want and we have to take it, be quiet about it or else. Fishing is fair with a few red meat fish, bass and crappie being caught with varius methods. You have to work for them. Full Moon is tomorrow and about the only species that like that is stripers and bluegill. It has been a gloomy, cool and breezy Christmas but it could have been worse. We had a happy Christmas with lots of friends and releatives and count our blessings. Blackburns is the family place. Yes we are open. If you are in the area stop by and check us out. We had our security alarm go off and somebody started to get on the dock but left and nothing was stolen so watch out for Christmas thieves. They are on TV here at Blackburns and we never leave or go on vacation. Before Steve got his name Scuba Steve they called him Clifton Clowers.
