The lake level is 553.36 and continues to creep up with no discharge from the dam except minimum flow. We are getting some light rain now with more to come later today and tonight. We are very dry and it should sink in. It is good to go into the winter with moisture in the ground. The White River at Newport is 2.77 feet and still very low indicating not much water is being released into the White River anywhere. Every once in a while they turn on Bull Shoals a little but both generators on Norfork are inoperable. The lake surface water temperature had moved back up to just over 54 degrees on the main lake last evening after dark with the ambient temperature in the 60's. The moon was nearly full and you could see almost like daytime with the clear skies in the dark. I went out at 3:PM and caught a few fish until about 4:45 PM when they started to bite and ended up catching several bass and crappie. The wind layed just before dark and it was peace and quiet and I did not want to give up on the day. I only saw one other boat out there all the time I was fishing. It is tough fishing in the middle of the day unless you are an open water fisherman and find some feeding fish. If you do drop a spoon on their heads. Most of our guests are not fishermen but are visiting family in the Mountain Home area for the holidays. Others are staying here because other places are closed. We are open all year here at Blackburns. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and your first boat stall is free with your cabin. It is very busy today. We wish you all a Merry Christmas.
