Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Lake Condition and Fishing Report by Scuba steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Roger Moody with a couple of good ones. He likes those bass. Image title

The lake level is 553.30 and is dropping very slowly with just minimum flow. We are getting some rain today but it should not affect things much as we are very dry. The surface water temperature is 58-degrees and is not changing much lately. The White River at Newport is 2.53 feet and still very low indicating not much is being let out anywhere. The water clarity is not changing much and I can see my lure down about 5-feet on the main lake. It should be more clear this time of year but there is not much water coming in or going out of the lake. I went out about 3:PM and stayed until dark and caught more fish than I have been lately. Mostly Bass but a few crappie were biting on the grub and minnow and jig. I was casting past the brush in 18-23 feet of water and letting it sink down into it. They were liking both about equally. Nothing was feeding heavily, in a frenzy, hammering anything, and there was no drama but they did seem a little more aggressive and the crappie were sucking the lure down a little instead of just running with it. More bigger largemouth are definitely in and around brush than before just around on the inside of a main lake point. It was a warm day with light wind. It is to be windy from the south now for several days. Blackburns has some good fishermen in now and they are all doing better than a couple of days ago. I am catching a keeper walleye now and again but not very many. The White Bass are making a comeback but are not nearly what they were about 5-6 years ago. If you are in the area for the holidays stop by Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental and check us out. We still have the best prices on both rental boats and cabins in the Ozarks and a free boat stall comes with your cabin. Some are charging for them, we are not. Always ask. No sense paying too much unless you just have too much money. I do not. No, we are not for sale. We like it here.
