Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

I do not fish for these but this one was on the bank last evening at dark. Image title

The lake level is 553.39 and creeping up with no discharge except for minimum flow. The White River at Newport is 1.73 feet and dropping and about dry. The lake level has been very stable for weeks. The surface water temperature is 63-degrees and dropping slowly. We are to get rain Sunday night and Monday with high pressure moving in after that with cooler ambient temperatures and lows near freezing but not bad. Usually October is the worse month of the year for fishing but so far November has been just as bad. The bite was slow and I had just caught a few small bass and bluegill until almost dark last evening when the wind shifted to from the north and picked up and the temperature dropped quickly with the front moving through. It is sunny with light winds this morning. I caught one red meat fish accidently while bass fishing and that was a surprise but the grub and minnow catches about anything when fishing is tough. I cannot predict when fishing will get better as it should have by now. I am just not into spending all day out in open water looking for feeding fish and catching a striper now and again and a few White Bass. White Bass are for people that cannot catch anything else and trout are for people that cannot catch White Bass. It is getting dry again and we could use the rain but it looks like most of it is going south of us. If you are in the area or planning a trip to Mountain Home  stop by Blackburns and check us out. We are open all year and do not mind people driving through and will not charge you too much. Blackburns is the best value in the Ozarks and you can save a lot of $ staying here. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. Scuba Steve is a Veteran but does not require as much policing as he used to for some reason. My thin blue line flag is getting tattered and I have to get a new one. Debbie and Amy are painting everything in sight in the nice fall weather. Spring comes fast and there is not much time for improvements then. Bryan Deardoff Construction is putting on a new metal roof on the owner's house and then all buildings will have new roofs with no asphalt singles on the place. Now we have no carpet and all laminate floors also. We are getting there. Brian Jennings installed all encased floats on the dock and made some repairs and it also is in good condition. We have purchased almost all new mattresses and beds from Furniture Warehouse and we also highly recommend them. They have a large inventory and the best prices. All kitchen cabinets and counter tops have also been replaced. I am broke but things look good here.
