Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

My father and his brothers were all heroes and I am honored to be a small part of this family. Image title

The lake level is 553.38 and stable with no discharge but minimum flow. The White River at Newport is 1.96 feet and about ready to dry up. The wade fishermen on the rivers like this as they can fish the pools and catch the already easily caught trout more easily and do not have to use a boat. Blackburns has many friends in Louisiana and are happy they are getting some badly needed rain. The surface water tmeperature is 64-65 debrees and dropping slowly. The lake overall is in excellent condition with about the right water clarity and at a perfect leve just a couple of feet higher than what it should be at this time of year. Fishing for me is only fair at best but I am catching a few Walleye, Crappie and Kentucky Bass but am having to work hard for them. The best bite now is for the big Bluegill. A few red meat fish of all three species are being caught but the open water fishermen are working hard for them also. They find a school of feeding fish one day and then nothing for a day or two. Your best bet is to fish main lake brush piles with a small spoon or a live minnow on a slip float directly over brush in 18-25 feet of water just before dusk. Also cast a 3-inch swim bait to the bank in front of brush and bring it back towards the brush for a walleye now and again. I am usually catching big crappie almost at will this time of year but not now. They are there because I could see them scuba diving before it got cooler. The lake has been at almost the exact same level since this day in September and it may have something to do with the fishing. Not much water going in and not much water going out for two months. I am still counting on things getting better by Thanksgiving. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. You can save a minimum of $30/day by staying here at Blackburns and also be at the best place. Your first boat stall is free.
