The lake level is 553.34 and creepenig up. The White River at Newport is 3.87 ft. and dropping and very low again. I can drink about all of the water they are letting out of the dams. The surface water temperature is 67-degrees and stable with the warm ambient temperatures. The lake remains fairly clear in both the creeks and main lake and I can see my lure down about 5-6 feet. The weather is to cool a bit down to the low 60's for highs but not bad. This is to be the last day to be near 80. I have been catching a few walleye just at dark and also a few Crappie and Kentucky Bass on main lake brush in 18-25 feet but it is slow especially during the day with the high clear skies. There are some reports of fishing being on fire but I am not seeing it. There are a few stripers being caught but there are several days of fishing in between before a school of feeding fish are being found and a lot more looking than finding and once they are found they are gone. If there is a night bite for stripers this fall it will be just before and up to the full moon which is the 27th of this month. It has not been very good the last few years with the absence of most of the larger stripers. Use a plastic swim bait on shadowy banks just before dark for the walleye. The fish that I am cleaning are empty inside and are not feeding. I usually say Thanksgiving is an excellent time for fishing on Norfork but I am not sure at this time.
