The lake level is 553.50 and has risen 1.3 inches in the last 24-hours and they opened up sluice gates equivalent to 2/3rds of a generator at 7:PM last evening. The generators are still inoperable. We have received 2.8 inches of rain so far and it is still raining right down. The creeks are running. The White River at Newport is 3.03 feet and starting to rise. The surface water temperature is 69-degrees and the cold weather is on the way after this clears out and the high pressure moves in. And I mean cold. We could get lows down into the 20's. It is not only a frost warning but a hard freeze and it is way too early. It looks like diving season is over for Scuba Steve this year. Sad day but I like pole fishing just as much and it is easier. I will get a new fishing report as soon as the rain stops. Anything now would be premature and speculation but November fishing is usually pretty good. Crappie fishing has been the best and I see no reason for it to change. That is mostly what I fish for in the winter any way. Stripers usually go the the bank at dark to pre-winter feed near the full moon in November which is the 27th. and then go to deeper water just off the river channel by the bridges and then get lethargic and not bite very well. The fishermen that want cold weather will be sorry when it gets here. Scuba Steve will just continue to fish brush piles.
