The lake level is 553.35 and has been the same for a week with both generators still inoperable and just minimum flow. The White River at Newport is 3.12 feet. Surface water tmeperature is 70-degrees and the lake is clearing nicely with good visibility on the main lake and stained in the creeks. Scuba Diving conditions have been excellent this last several days with the walleye and crappie moving in shallower on bruish. I have been catching a few fish pole fishing but not a lot. I switch back and forth with the weather and amount of sunshine. It looks like cold weather is on the way and the people that do not like warm weather are going to get their way. I do not like winter but make the best of it and do not like to see the Scuba season end. There are some big bass showing up on main lake points near brush but are not biting very well yet and have not started their pre-winter feed. A few are being caught. The fish location depends on the baitfish. If the brush holds baitfish it will be loaded with predator fish and if it is void of them it will be empty and it changes from day to day. Schools of shad are everywhere on the banks that the wind is blowing into. There is definitely no shortage of food but the big fish are not hammering anything or in a feeding frenzy. I get a laugh out of those terms. There are a lot of fish in Norfork Lake but more and more people are chasing them. The number of guides just about equal the number of fishermen and they all are seeing how many fish they can kill to impress people.  Just wait until the stripers start to bite again and there will be chuggers (trollers) all over the lake. The cold weather is on the way and we will see when it warms back up again.  The fall foliage is better this year than the last few and should really change with a frost and always seems to peak the very last of October or early November in this area.
