The lake level is 553.19 and stable with no discharge from the dam for several days. The White River at Newport is 3.04 feer and very low. The surface water temperature is 74-degrees and the water is fairly clear on the main lake and stained in the creeks. Some walleye are showing up on main lake points on banks where the wind is blowing into in about 20-feet of water. Crappie are roaming from brush pile to brush pile looking for baitfish. Catfishing is fair on jugs with live bait. There are fish coming up partway back in the creeks in the late evening. Nice sized Kentucky Bass are everywhere and are the best bite with a few largemouth mixed in. Go to main lake brush in 18-30 feet of water and drop a spoon straight down. The lake overall is in excellent condition and at a good level but fishing is just fair. Fall Foliage is changing a little everyday and is on schedule for a late October peak. It is more noticeable on the roadsides than on the hillsides. Come on down to Blackburns and we will not charge you too much. You can peep leaves and fish at the same time. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. Blackburns is the best place with the best price and is closest to Mountain Home, shopping and dining.
