Caught on the Bink's Spoon.
The lake level is 553.23 and has been the same for three days with no discharge except minimum flow and they cut that off sometimes. The generators are still broken and have been for a long time. The White River at Newport is 3.52 feet and very low and the surface water temperature is 81-degrees. The thermocline is at 31-feet where it starts to get cold. The visibility has diminished a bit and is now stained a little green but you can still see ok to spearfish. More fish are on the windblown steep river channel bank drop-offs than on brush piles especially in the evening. Kentucky Bass are the best bite on grubs, plastic worms and spoons. A few largemouth are mixed in. I am not seeing very many crappie. Walleye are on Main Lake points in 32-feet of water on the bottom. Both spoons and bottom bouncers are working. Some very big redear bluegill are with the bass. All species are fat and healthy. The lake overall is at a good level and in good condition for boating, swimming, diving but fishing is just fair. Some red meat fish are being caught on the spoon but not a lot and you have to work for them. Blackburns is still the home of the $59/day 1-bedroom cabins and they come with a free stall at our dock for your boat. 2,3 and 4 bedrooms are priced accordingly. All are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches to get out of the sun and rain. Come on down. We will not charge you too much. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. They are catching some nice fish off the dock including bass, catfish and bluegill. Why pay more unless you just have too much money?
