Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Scuba Steve with a nice one yesterday. Image title

The lake level is 553.66 and is up just a bit with no discharge for two days. They closed the sluice gates and the generators are still inoperable. The White River at Newport is 5.17 ft. and dropping and is very low. The surface water temperature is 87-88 degrees and dropping slowly and I found the thermocline to be at 27-feet yesterday. Many Kentucky Bass, some crappie and many bluegill continue to be on main lake brush from 25-32 feet. I am not fishing open water. The water clarity is not bad if you stay on river channel steep rocky banks on the main  lake. A few more largemouth are moving in to the brush. I am using a small spoon for bass and bluegill and live minnows on a slip float for crappie towards the top of the brush. The boat traffic this weekend will destroy the water clarity but it will come back soon with the cooler water. September is an excellent time for fishing and diving. Blackburns goes on their off-season rates on September 5th and you can get a 1-bedroom cabin for $59/day with a free stall in our dock for your boat. The big pool is open and you can get some peace and quiet both here and on the lake. Come on down and we will not charge you too much. No drama here. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. Scuba Steve is a Veteran but does not require as much Policing as he used to for some reason.
