Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Caught fishing with Bink's Guide Service yesterday.Image title

The lake level is 553.84 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours with sluice gates open to an equivalent of 1-generator. They lowered them just a bit yesterday. It has dropped 3-1/2 feet since they started releasing on August 14th. The White River at Newport is 7.76 feet.  The heat wave is over for now but it is to get very warm for the holiday next weekend. We got a little wind yesterday afternoon but no rain. It is getting dry again. It is hard to believe August is about over but I will be glad when Labor Day is over. If it is like the earlier ones it will be very busy. The trend for boat traffic has been for very busy holidays, busy weekends and slow during the week. The fishing is not the best anyway. Some crappie are showing up on brush on the main lake in 27-32 feet of water and Bink is still catching some walleye and Hybrid Stripers on His spoon near the bottom in 32-35 feet of water. Catfishing is not the best with the dropping level and moon getting bigger. Bluegill and Kentucky Bass fishing remains the best on a small spoon in the brush.Trollers are clipping a weight in front of a crankbait and dragging it through schools of shad and catching a few schooling fish but not many. More and more baitfish are moving in under docks and in and around any cover or brush. The surface water temperature remains at 90-degrees and the visibility is poor in Blackburns Area. It will get better as we get into September and the water temperature drops. On September 5th Blackburns goes on it's off-season rates and you can get a 1-bedroom cabin for $59/day and a two bedroom for $77 and they come with a free stall for your boat. Come on down. We will not charge you too much. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. The lake is at an excellent level.
