Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 555.79 and has dropped 3-inches in the last 24-hours with sluice gates open just over one generator. The White River at Newport is 7.38 feet and the top of the power pool is 555.75 so I anticipate they will close the gates soon. It is taking a very long time to fix the generators. The surface water temperature is back up to 86-degrees and can only go up with 100+ degree ambient temperatures until through Thursday. This is very rare this part of August. The creeks are stained green and the main lake remains pretty clear but not as clear as last week. There is still some boat traffic out there dragging stuff around on week-ends but it is slow during the week with peace and quiet. Walleye and Kentucky Bass are still the best bite in water from 27-32 feet on main lake brush around the thermocline of 28-feet. The thermocline will drop this week. The word of the day is hot.
