The lake level is 556.80 and has dropped 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with sluice gates equal to 2/3rds of a generator open continuously for 24-hours straight. The White River at Newport is 5-feet and dropping. The surface water temperature is 88-degrees and the thermocline starts at 24-feet  with cold water at 30. There remains a mud line with little visibility from 18-ft. to past the start of the thermocline where several fish are located including bass, catfish and smaller walleye. Bluegill of various sizes are on brush at various depths in very large numbers. and are attracting big bass and catfish. When you see schools of smaller bluegill you can bet there will be bass and catfish around. More and more fish are showing up in the 27-ft. range. The lager red meat fish are still deep in 60-70 ft. of water and a few of the larger walleye are with them. Smaller fish are shallower except for largemouth bass. Some White Bass are schooled and roaming and suspending on main lake points but again the larger ones are deeper. You have to get your lure down the the fish so the jigging spoon is the best right now except for early and after dark bass which are feeding shallow on crawdads. Finesse worms and saltcraws are best then. Some very large bass are being caught on main lake point brush.
