Caught fishing with Bink's Guide service on the Spoon. Image title

The lake level is 557.02 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday with no discharge for two days. They just opened up sluice gates equal to 2/3rds of a generator at 8:AM this morning. The White River at newport is 4.98 feet and they seem to be regulating around 5-feet. The surface water temperature is 88-degrees and the weather has been hot. We are starting to get dry again. The thermocline starts to get cold at 23-feet and there is a mud line from 19-ft. down to 27-feet and very cold water at 30. The water is clear down to 19-feet. A lot of fish are on main lake points around brush from 20-28 feet including bass, walleye and catfish. I am still not seeing very many crappie but they will move in just after Labor Day. Some bigger largemouth are coming into the brush where Kentucky bass were the only ones. Bink is still catching stripers and some larger walleye deep in 60-70 feet of water on his spoon and the bass are biting after dark on the saltcraw. The lake is at an excellent level and in good condition for boating, swimming nad fishing but fishing is only fair. It is a typical late July except the water level is much better but still a few feet high. There is still time to bring the children to Blackburns before school starts so give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservarion and we will not charge you too much.
