The lake level is 557.03 and is up 3/4 of an inch in the last 24-hours with no discharge and keeps creeping up. It needs to be about 5-feet lower so we have a little surge capacity. The surface water temperature is 87-degrees and the thermocline remains at 23-feet. Not much has changed as far as fishing is concerned and the stripers and some walleye are at 60-70 ft. and biting on the 3/4 ounce Bink's Many Shad Spoon. After dark bass fishing with a black light is still producing some nice fish on the first drop-off after 9:PM. Otherwise use a smaller spoon or plastic worm in the 20-25 ft. range on main lake points near brush. For catfishing rig up a jug with about 20-ft. of line with a one ounce weight on the bottom and place four hooks on short leaders from just off the bottom to about 5-ft. down and bait with live shiners or bluegill about 3-inches long. Set the jug just before dark according to the wind direction so it does not blow out to sea. When it reaches the length of line provided the weight will touch bottom and you will still be fishing and at different depths. Otherwise go to main lake cuts or in the backs of creeks with a trotline alternating between live bait and prepared bait on the hooks. Check every two hours. If a jug is missing head out to the main lake and keep looking. Blackburns has a cabin opening and pontoon boat available starting today so give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We will not charge you too much.
