Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 556.98 and is rising very slowly with no discharge for 5-days. The White River at Newport is 4.87 feet and is very low and heading lower. I do not understand why they are holding the lake up thjis high. I know the generators are inoperable and have been for months but they are not letting out hardly any water anywhere. The rains came after a three month drought or we would be flooded out again. It would be good to have the level at 552. The thermocline remains at 23-feet and there are several fish at that depth especially on and around main lake brush. Small spoons are the lure of choice. Bink is catching stripers and a few walleye in 60-70 feet of water near the bottom. Drop the 3/4 or 1-ounce Many Shad on their head. They will continue to go deeper as the water temperature rises and the thermocline is pushed down. Scuba conditions are not the best with the visibility being bad in the fish zone in the 20-23 feet range. The conditions are typical for the latter part of july and will get much better after Labor day. The lake is fairly quiet during the week and busy on the weekends and very busy on holidays. There is still time to take the children to Blackburns for some fun before schools starts. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We will not charge you too much and your first boat stall is free here unless you bring the Queen Mary and I have to pull one of my rental pontoons out. We have 12 of them and at the best prices in the Ozarks. Sorry we do not allow pulling or towing anything with our boats and they must be in before dark everyday.if you need to ram things around all day you can stay here and rent a boat from a marina. They do not mind but bring a thick wallet.
