The lake level is 556.80 and has dropped 1-inch in the last 24-hours with both generators still inoperable and sluice gates open equal to 1-1/3 generators for about 9-hours. The White River at Newport is 6.7 feet and dropping about ready to dry up with very little water being let out anywhere and very dry conditions. The top of the power pool is 556.75 and drops again next month to 553.75 feet. We are getting enough rain to keep things green but not any extra. The surface water tmeperature is 83-degrees and rising slowly with the warmer weather and warmer nights. The thermocline is at about 18-feet with clear water down to about 15-feet, some particulates down to about 18-feet and cold water at 20-feet. Several fish are at or just above and just below that depth. Spoons for the walleye and plastic worms for the bass. The bass come up shallower in the evening to feed on crawdads. Cast your worm or saltcraw to the banks and let it fall off the first drop-off. Temperate bass are going deeper and seem to like 50-feet no matter the water depth but you need the 50-feet even if it is the bottom. Drop a Bink's 3/4 ounce spoon on their heads. Some crappie are on brush in 18-25 feet of water but not a lot yet. There are bass fry everywhere and all predator fish are feeding on them except the deeper fish which are on shad.
