Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

There are some big Bluegill in Norfork Lake and they make a very tasty sammich. Image title

The lake level is 556.89 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday. They have lowered the sluice gates and they are now equal to 1-generator for about 9-hours. The White River at Newport is 7.28 feet and the surface water temperature is 82-degrees. We received 1/2 inch of rain last night but all of the severe weather went around us again. It is cloudy, breezy and cool so far this morning. The lake remains clear with a thermocline less than 20-feet with cold water after that. It is very clear near the shore and the creeks are also clearing but a little green. The lake remains at a good level and in excellent condition for fishing, boating and swimming. The boat traffic has been a little lower than normal for the last week but the vehicle traffic in town sure has not been. Everyone is dragging a camper or RV and looking for places to park them and we are turning into a mobile communiuty. One day there is a nice forested acreage and the next it is scalped and turned into a RV park or boat storage. They are everywhere. Do not plan on buying a vehicle that can tow an RV for a reasonable price around here anytime soon. They want as much money for a used vehicle that it cost new a few years ago. If you think inflation is gone just go out and buy some tires, batteries or boat parts. Wow. They have doubled at least. It is hard to hold prices but Blackburns will do so as long as possible so our customers can still have an affordable family vacation. Compare prices and then give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We will not charge you too much. The fishing is changing as the water warms and the stripers and some larger walleye are still going deeper. They seem to like 50-ft. no matter how deep the water. Use a Bink's 3/4 ounce jigging spoon and drop it right on their heads. Trollers are having a hard time and usually do this time of year. That is why they do not post as often as when they are catching fish. Bass fishermen are doing well in the evening on plastic worms just around main lake points on both sides right at the first drop-off. They are feeding on crawdads. Crappie fishing is getting a little better as they move near brush chasing bass fry. Use a very small spoon for bluegill in the brush.
