The lake level is 556.90 and has dropped 1-1/3rd inch in the last 24-hours with sluice gates open to an equivalent of 1-2/3rds generators for about 9-hours. The White River at Newport is 7.55 feet indicating not much water is being let out of any of the area lakes. The surface water temperature is 82-degrees and the thernocline is at 17-feet with a mud line of particulates just above that for 3-4 feet and then cold water at 20-feet. It is very clear down to about 14-feet and after 20-feet and very clear near the shore on the main lake. It is stained a little green in the creeks. There are a lot of fish just at and just below the thermocline including bass and walleye especially on and just around main lake points. Some White Bass are starting to move in to 15-20 feet of water suspended about 5-feet from the bottom and roaming. Smallmouth, Largemouth and Kentucky Bass are all together with some very large Kentuckies and are feeding in the evening in 10-14 feet of water on crawdads. It is about time for the after dark bite for bass on saltcraws, black lights and flourescent line.  Many bass fry are around the brush and any wood. There must have been a good bass spawn because the fry are everywhere. The effort of some private fishermen and the Game and Fish to enhance brush piles on Norfork is paying off now with much more cover than before which should help with survival rates. I wish more people would do this rather than just take.  Blackburns has some good ones and will show you where they are when you get here. Spearfishing season is open and Scuba Steve will also show you where the best places to go are located. He saves the best places for his customers. Stripers are going deeper and continue to be in 70-90 feet of water 50-ft. down. Bink's Spoons are the best lures. Blackburns still has the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals and a free stall for your boat comes with the cabin. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches. You also have use of the big pool with slide and baby section and the largest flat green playground for the children with much playground equipment. Blackburns is the family place.  Come on down and we will not charge you too much. If you are not staying at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental you are paying too much.
