Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 557.25 and has dropped 1.2 inches in the last 24-hours with sluice gates open equal to about 1-2/3rds generators with the increase just happening a couple of hours ago. They have opened them for about 9-hours in a 24-hour period. The White River at Newport is 7.38 feet and is very low indicating not much water being let out anywhere. It looks like they may increase a bit. The surface water temperature was 80-degrees last evening and the water is clear down to about 15-feet with a mud line after that and then cold water at about 20-feet. Several bass and walleye are at or around that level. Some large bass are shallower feeding on crawdads in the evening. Other walleye are deep on shad with the stripers. Look for surfacing bass in the early mornings and there will be stripers under them if the water is at least 60-feet deep. They seem to like that level no matter the depth of the water but they are not in shallow water. There are a lot of bass fry near any cover bringing in the walleye and adult bass. Use a jigging spoon for deep fish, small 2-inch jig for crappie and plastic worms for bass. Start on main lake points and work around both sides of them. There will be less fish as your go back into the creeks. Crappie fishing is picking up as the fry moves to the brush for cover. Blackburns is the family fun headquarters for Norfork Lake and we try and keep our rates as low as we can so you can have a affordable vacation. Children should bring their bikes as they can ride a nearly flat road down to the dock and play, fish, swim and feed the fish and turtles. We are a no drama resort and especially welcome Veterans and Police. It is nice here and the price is right. A free stall for your boat comes with your cabin. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. You will like it here. The big pool with slide is continually busy.
