Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 557.14 and has dropped just a bit in the last 24-hours with one generator running about 1/3rd the time. The White River at Newport ia 12.24 feet and dropping and they are still running Bull Shoals hard. The surface water temperature is 80-degrees and the lake is clearing in Blackburns Area and clear past Robinson Island south. Overall the lake is in excellent condition and at a good level for fishing, boating and swimming. The best fishing tip now is in the early morning if you see bass surfacing leave them alone because there will be stripers under them deeper especially 50-60-ft. down in 70-90 feet of water. Drop a spoon on their head unless you just want to catch small bass on the top. Kentucks bass are numerous on the first drop-off on steep rocky banks and hitting plastic worms as they fall off the ledge. Flathead Catfishing is slowing with the big moon and dropping water but channels are moving into main lake cuts. Gar are everywhere part way back in the creeks. Several fish of different species are hanging around the thermocline at 17-20 feet especially on main lake points and are biting small spoons and jigging a grub. Blackburns still has the best prices on both cabins and boat rental in the Ozarks and a free boat stall comes with your cabin. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation.
