The lake level is 557.18 and has dropped just a bit in the last 24-hours with one generator running about 1/3rd the time. The White River at Newport is 12.42 feet and they are still running Bull Shoals heavily as both lakes approach their top-of power pool levels. The surface water temperature remains at 80-degrees and the water wants to clear in this area and clears as you go south of Robinson Point. Too clear of water is not the best for fishing. It is very clear near the dam but no fish there. The best two bites right now are Kentucky Bass in 10-12 feet of water on plastic worms and stripers deep on spoons. The stripers are growing since their kill of most big ones and a lot more 8-10 pounders are being caught. They are schooled up in water from 40-60 feet down but the schools are much smaller as years before and the over-fishing is taking it's toll as bad as the kill in August in high water. Six or seven years ago you could see hundreds of fish surfacing in early Mornings in May and now there are just a few. If high water is avoided this year there should not be a striper kill and most of the vegetation near the shore has died off even if it does get high. I would like to see the limit dropped to two  as the same people hunt them down everyday. They are put and take and do not reproduce. Bluegill like this big moon and some nice big ones are being caught. Walleye are scattered but some are staying around the thermocline at 17-18 feet and others are with the stripers deep. Gar are getting to be a nuisance and I cannot keep them off my catfish lines. It is to get hot for the next few days and the rain chances have diminished and this will drive the fish deeper. We are getting very dry. I like this lake level. Blackburns Has 1-bedroom cabins for $90/day and pontoon rentals starting at $115/day. Why pay more unless you just have too much money. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. The most important things right now at a resort are 1) Swimming pool. 2) Dock for your boat. 3) price.
