The lake level is 557.25 and continues to drop ever so slowly with one generator running about 1/3rd the time. The surface water temperature is 80-degrees and the White River at Newport is 12.23 feet and they are letting a lot of water out of Bull Shoals. The summer thermocline has formed at 17-feet and there are a lot of fish at and around that level especially on main lake points. A 1/4 ounce spoon is the best lure jigged vertically. The water is clearing after the holiday boat traffic but is more clear on steep rocky banks. The increased boat traffic on Holidays is getting too much for this size of lake.  Crappie are on shallower brush piles and not very far down. Stripers are going deeper and the top-water bite is diminishing but smaller bass are coming up early and late. Some larger Kentucky Bass are off steep banks in 12-15 feet of water and biting plastic worms. Walleye are from 15-20 feet down on points and biting jigging spoons. Blackburns still has the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks so give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation and we will not charge you too much. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
