The lake level is 557.30 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running for about 8-hours. It has been very stable for two weeks with no rain. The White River at Newport is at 12.07 feet and there is no effort to drop the lake. They are trying to keep the level just above the top of the power pool which changes and is now 556.75 feet. A lot of people are clearing out and the boat traffic should be about normal after 5:PM. That is when they start to get tired and hungry and head home. It has been uneventful here at Blackburns with no drama and we had a great group of people with the loud and boisterous ones being weeded out over the years. Blackburns is the family place and we will keep it that way. I heard of no boating accidents over the weekend so far. There was a fatal motorcycle accident in town though. There was a lot of law enforcement everywhere. The lake is churned up and it will take a few days to clear again especially on dirt and clay banks. The surface water temperature is still about 80-degrees. Several guests caught some nice stripers on the jigging spoon and a lot of fish were caught off the dock. It looks to be a busy summer and I hope the lake remains at this level or a little lower. High water makes it hard to launch your boat and park your trailer if you do not stay here at Blackburns. You can launch here, park your trailer and put your boat in a free stall in our dock and be done with it until you leave. No need to go elsewhere to launch which requires two people. Better yet, you can rent a boat from us and not have to haul or launch anything. There are several people who spend a lot of their vacation working on their boat and trailers instead of enjoying the lake. Me, I do not like to trailer anything and have had my share of blown tires and wheel bearing failures and do not enjoy struggling with the lights. I have 30-boats and when I go someplace else I rent even though rental prices are very high everywhere except Blackburns. Check out prices on both cabins and boat rentals and then give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 before you have to pay much more elsewhere. All of out cabins are individual with no duplexes and come with a free stall for your boat. The big dock is in a sheltered cove good for kayaking. Make sure your cabin has a covered porch. It is going to get hot in the sun.
