Caught yesterday with Bink's guide service.
The lake level is 555.07 and has risen 2-inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running for about 4-hours. We have received a two day total of 1.4 inches of rain at Blackburns but the creeks did not run. It was very dry. They are raising the top of the power pool and it is now 556.18 and goes to 556.75 on May 15th so do not expect much generation until we get past that. It does not leave much room for a big rain. Right now it is at a good level. The surface water temperature is in the low 70's and there is a lot of action going on with some bass and crappie still spawning, threadfin shad spawning at night and bluegill beginning. Carp are about ready. They like 73-degrees and we are almost there. It is a sight to see and hear them back in Blackburns Creek when thousands of them go to the very back and spawn. Some are huge. They like it there for some reason and go there every year. It is also a haven for turtles. Big schools of walleye are everywhere but most of them are throwbacks. It is a good time of year for overall fishing. Come on down to Blackburns and we will not charge you too much. A free stall for your boat comes with your cabin and you will like it here. If you are not staying at Blackburns Resort and Boat rental you are paying too much. It is a gentle sloping 400-yards to our dock where you can launch, park and step right on. No need for a 4-wheel drive or a Sherman Tank to get up and down a cliff or jumbled up parking. Regular cars are just fine. You can launch right here, park right here and be fishing in a few minutes. Have the children bring their bicycles. Our big dock is in a sheltered cove good for kayaking.
