The lake level is 554.72 and has risen 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running about 6-hours. The White River at Newport is 13.5 feet and stable. The surface water temperature is 67 degrees and the weather is warming up. The top-water bite likes warm nights and was good this morning in the cloudy skies. 19.63 lbs. leads the first day at the Bass cat Invitational  with one more day to go. They have about 309 boats. A lot of fish are being caught but many are just under the 15-inch limit. I am seeing more fish on beds than earlier but it may just be because the water is more clear. Small fish clear water, bigger fish stained water. More and more crappie are moving back to brush piles but several have not spawned yet. Slip floats with minnows and Bobby Garland Baby Shad are the best baits for them. Many fishermen are using 3-inch swim baits and catching about everything on them. Bink likes those creature baits on a jig head and so do I. The south wind has blown the baitfish back into the south facing creeks and they are partway back in both shallow water and in 30-ft. The lake is at a good level and in good condition and fishing is getting better everyday. Some places charge for your first boat stall but Blackburns does not and we also have the best prices on Both Cabins and Boat Rental in the Ozarks. Come on down. We will not charge you too much. It is very busy here but you do not have to stay in a duplex next to a stranger and it is a gentle sloping 400-yards to our dock in a sheltered cove and you can walk or drive and step right on.
