The lake level is 554.54 and has risen 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with no generation since 7:PM last evening. The top of the power pool has changed to 554.75 and goes to 556.75 on May 15th so do not expect much generation umless we get above that. The White River at Newport is 13.68 feet and steady with all of the water coming from Bull Shoals which is still 5-feet above their power pool. The bright sunshine and light wind warmed the lake despite the mild temperatures. It will rise fast with ambient temperatures to approach 90 this weekend after some rain tonight and early tomorrow. i had 67-degree surface water temperature yesterday evening on the main lake and warmer near the shore in the creeks. The water is stained a little green but a good color for fishing. I could see my lure down about 7-feet. More crappie are moving to the brush piles and the top-water bite for bass and red meat fish will get better with the warm nightime lows coming up. It was great to have light winds for a change. I am not seeing very many bass on beds even though the water is clear shallow. The big ones that were under the dock have moved out somewhere. It is getting near bluegill spawn. Bass cat boats are everywhere and I wish them a good tournament. It looks like they will have more boats than in past years and I wish they would stay here every year. The fishing is better than last week and they should do well. If you want the larger fish look for off-colored water. The dinks are in clear water. The lake traffic will slow way down on Saturday evening and Sunday until Memorial Day and then it starts all over again. The lake is in excellent condition for both fishing and boating and is at a very good level. You still have time to take advantage of Blackburns $59/day cabin rentals and the best prices on boat rentals. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and a free stall at our dock comes with the cabin rental. No sense paying too much unless you just have too much money.
