Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 554.49 and dropping slowly with one generator running continuously. It dropped 2-inches in the last 24-hours as we approach the top of the power pool of 553.75 and here are no spillway gates open on any Lakes in the area. The White River at Newport is 19.38 feet and also dropping. The surface water temperature is 64-65 degrees and stable with the cool weather. We received a little rain this morning but no much and it is very dark and cloudy. The water is stained a little greenish brown and I can see my lure down about 5-feet and it is a good color for fishing. The lake overall is in excellent condition and at a good level.  Fishing is getting better for most species and Bink said the Smallmouth Bass fishing would get good when the water level drop slowed and he was right again. It did not take long. Work around those gentle sloping sandy points and long banks with a creature bait on a jig head. The bass and crappie are moving to the beds in earnest now and more crappie will move back to the brush piles after spawn. Blackburns brush piles are now back in play with the lake at a good level again. This may be just in time for a good spawn this year. It is not too late. Flathead catfish are moving part way back in the creeks and hitting live shiners and bluegill on throw lines. This is a good time of year with the top-water bite also improving. Blackburns still has $59/day 1-bedroom cabins and $77/day two bedrooms and the best prices on rental boats in the Ozarks. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and a free boat stall comes with your cabin. No duplex cabins here and all have big covered porches to get out of the rain and sun. If you are not staying at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental you are paying too much.
