The lake level is 563.88 and has dropped 4-inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running continually and spillway gates open to an equavalent of another 1.4 generators. The White River at Newport is 23.9 feet and leveled off and they are running Bull Shoals hard with spillway gates open. There will be no river wading for a while. They are geting plenty of minimum flow now and that is what they wanted when they took away 1.75 feet of flood capacity to get it.  The surface water temperature is 58-degrees on the main lake and the water is still tea colored in the Blackburns Creek area and very slow to clear. You can find about any color of water you want somewhere on Norfork at this time. The lake level was 554.43, the White River at Newport was 22.84 and the main lake surface water temperature was 55 on this date last year and we still flooded out. Hope things work out this year because that is the Corps Of Egineers Lake level management plan. Hold and hope and the results have been the same since they started this policy several years ago. Doing the same thing over and over and hoping for different results is the definition of something but I forgot. The new news is that the flatheads have started biting and I really like to catch them plus they are about the best eating of any fish in the lake. Plus, they reproduce naturally and do not need to be restocked every year like the put and take stripers and hybrids and they have no red meat. Talk about pull! The weather has been just about perfect. The best chance for rain is not until next Saturday and they are trying hard to drop the lakes. I hope they continue. Pun intended. I have to mow something about everyday and this is the best year for dandelions that I have seen in my many years here. It is a bumper crop. Come visit Blackburns. We will not charge you too much. You can save at least $30/day on a 1-bedroom cabin and they are the best around and are all individual and no duplexes with a big covered porches and come with a free stall for your boat. No sharing your privacy here. We rent peace and quiet with no drama.  Come on down and check us out. You will not be sorry. We are proud of things here.
