Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 564.54 and has dropped 3-1/4 inches in the last 24-hours. They have now increased the release from the flood gates to an equivalent of 1.4 generators along with the one generator running continuously. The White River at Newport is 24.04 feet and mostly steady.  They have closed the flood gates on Table Rock now that it is near normal and finally started to drop Bull Shoals. Norfork needs to drop 11-feet to get to the top of the power pool. Five or six feet would help things out a lot. The surface water temperature was 58-degrees on the main lake and 59 back in the creeks where I was fishing last evening. The fishing was not the best but I did catch and release a few crappie in East Pigeon. This is not the time of year to see how many you can kill unless you really need meat and the ones that I see have not been missing very many meals.  The lake is still tea colored in this area and you can see your lure down about a foot. I cannot see the fishing light under my dock. It has been very slow to clear this time after the last big rain. The youth turkey hunt started today and I have not heard as many birds as I normally do and have seen just a few. They are usually all over the place near the lake by Blackburns Dock. I am seeing just a bit of top-water fish but they are mostly small bass. Most years I have a lot of fun catching Warmouth right on the bank in April but they have not moved in yet. The weather looks pretty good for the next week and maybe they can get the lake level back down past 560. That would be nice. Blackburns still has 1-bedroom cabins for $59/day. They a very nice and come with a free stall for your boat. Come on down. We will not charge you too much. Check things out unless you just have too much money. If you do stay at Blackburns and give the difference to Disabled Veterans. There are big differences in prices  and it will help you to pay for the increasing gas rates. They are going up almost daily here. Three years ago they were $1.77/gal.
