Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 565.31 and has dropped 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuous and spillway gates open to an equivalent of another 3/4 of a generator. The White River at Newport is 23.69 feet and dropping slowly. They are running huge amounts of water into Bull Shoals Lake with all generators running along with spillway gates open on Table Rock and trying to get it down to normal and they are only a couple of feet above power pool. Could there be a little bit of politics going on here?  Norfork and Bull are 12 and 16 feet above respectively. At least Norfork is dropping a little. I wonder if the put and take trout in the rivers are getting enough minimum flow yet?  The storm coming in tonght is concerning and it is concerning to anyone who owns a big dock on the lake. Blackburns is as ready as we can be. Our dock is in a protected cove but that does not make much difference to a storm heading down a flooded river. It is going to go somewhere no matter the wind direction. Some places are more prone to damage than others but nothing is for sure. The surface water temperature was 57-degrees on the main lake last evening when I came in and warmer back in the windblown creeks. The brown is starting to drop out everywhere now and you can find good colored water part way back in most creeks. Tea colored water does not hut anything and warms quicker than clear water. The smallmouth have moved to their normal spring banks now and can be caught on creature baits on a jig head. Some White Bass and Smaller stripers are biting back in bays casting a swim bait. A few fish are surfacing back in the creeks in the evening and are mostly small bass. A few male crappie are staging outside the bank back in Briar, East Pigeon and Twin Coves. More and more fish will come up in the early mornings at sunrise as the water warms. They always do. Blackburns still has $59/day one bedroom cabins and $77/day two bedrooms. Three and four bedrooms are priced accordingly. They are all individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches and come with a free stall for your boat. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and have several boats for you to rent also at the best prices. I mowed the yard for the second time yesterday. And so it begins.
