The lake level is 564.35 and has risen 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously. The White River at Newport is 24.02 feet and dropping. The wind finally died down last evening but it did help dry things out. The water is clearing very slowly but not much yet and is still brown in Blackburns area. It is now April and the top-water bite will begin in earnest soon no matter the water color. Get out those Zara Spooks and Spitin Images and practice walking the dog. Use a fairly stiff rod for the best action. If you are a novice and cannot do this very well a whopper plopper will also work. The surface water is warming slowly and I had some 56-degree water yesterday. Bass fishing is the best back in the creeks on a grub and minnow or a chatter bait. Trollers are having a hard time with the water rise and the fish scattering. It has come up 9-feet since  a week ago Friday. We could get more weather on Tuesday evening. Blackburns still has $59/day nice cabins and a good assortment of rental boats at the best prices in the Ozarks. Come on down. We will not charge you too much and your first boat stall is free. We especially welcome Police and Veterans. Blackburns is the family place and is pet friendly.
