Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 557.72 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running about 2/3rds the time and spillway gates open 1-ft. that is equal to 1/3 of a generator. They quit generating at 5:PM last evening and started one back up at 2:AM. So much for dropping the lake. The White River at Newport is 23.84 and dropping. They are now focusing on Bull Shoals. We are to get rain tomorrow and again on Thursday and Friday with Thunderstorms but the severe weather looks like it will be in the Kansas City area. The surface water temperature is 50-degrees and the water is still stained but trying to clear especially near the shore and out of the wind. I could see my lure down about 3-feet last evening. At least the sun is shining bright for now.  People are catching a few fish but are working hard for them. Beating the bank partway back in the windblown creeks with crank baits is catching a few bass but not very many. Spooning and vertical jigging a grub in shad is catching some temperate bass but not very many. Casting a jig or small grub and minnow into brush is catching a few bass and crappie bit not many. Trolling umbrellas and live bait through shad is catching a few bass and small stripers but not many. Casting a swim bait back in the bays for White Bass is catching a few fish but not many. Dock fishing after dark under lights is catching a few crappie and walleye but not many. I think you got the message. At least it is warming up and you do not have to be so miserable. The cold fronts and wind just keep coming through but it is March and that is to be expected but does not mean I like it. The top-water bite usually begins in earnest in the middle of April and that is the easiest time to catch fish. I am ready for it. It has been really cold. Our normal high is 62 and we have not been anywhere near that but it is coming starting today.
