Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Caught fishing with Bink's Guide Service yesterday.Image title

The lake level is 558.19 and has dropped 6-inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running continously and spillway gate open for a equivalent of over 2-more generators. They predicted that the lake would be at 557.5 by Friday and it looks like their prediction will come true. This is really good news and I hope it keeps dropping. It is raining a little now and will continue tonght but we should see sun for the nexr week with little chances for rain. Our normal ambient high is 60 and we are to be lower than that with several good chances of heavy freeze starting tomorrow. There is a lot of current in the river channel now with the heavy generation and spillway gate discharge and the visibility is not good. It is more clear in the creeks ,out of the current, than in the main lake. It is more clear near the shore. The surface water temperature was 53-degrees when I came in at 6:PM last evening. I caught a few fish but no picture fish. Bink's knows where the fish are located and found them in a bay way back in the creeks and caught several casting a swim bait and slow rolling it back to the boat. He caught all varieties of red meat fish along with some black bass. I am finding no smallmouth yet anywhere but they are out there. Norfork is a good Smallmouth fishery. Come on down to Blackburns. We will not charge you too much and a free boat stall comes with your cabin. Blackburns is the home of the $59 1-bedroom cabin.
