Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Caught fishing with Bink's Guide Service yesterday. Image title

The lake level is 556.23 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours and they have cut way back on generation. It has dropped 3/4 of a foot since the 3+inch rain 9-days ago.  The White River at Newport is 23.58 feet and is still high but in it's banks. We received 1/2 inch of rain late last night and early morning. There was some severe weather around but not here. The strong southerly wind blew some of the debris to the banks but it has shifted to the north now with the strong cold front. The ambient temperature has dropped over 20-degrees since early this morning and has gone from 60 to 39 already. It really slowed the fishing. It looks like no rain for the next several days so maybe they will drop the lake. We are way too high for the middle of February and do not need a big rain. The surface water temperature was 49 a few minutes ago and the north wind is cold. The fishing was just getting better and then this. I did catch a couple of crappie on a main lake point on brush a couple of hours ago and a Kentucky bass on wind blown bank on the drop-off on a grub before I came in. The bass fishing had just been getting better but we shall she what is cold front does. The creeks are clearing up and are about the same as the main lake again. Some debris is sticking to the bank and is not much of a problem in this area. Float Creek is a good place to fuish right now. Bink is still catching a mixture of Small Stripers, Hybrids and White Bass on his spoon on the bottom in 50-60 feet of water. Some White Bass have spawned already. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. Blackburns is the best value in the Ozarks and will not raise prices on anything again this year. We will show you where our best new brush piles are when you get here.
