Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 556.03 and has risen a little over 1-ft. in the last 24-hours. It has come up a total of three feet since last Tuesday when the rain began. They quit generating last night at about 10PM and started up for an hour this morning and quit again. The White River at Newport is 25.57 feet and rising with the flood stage being 26-feet I do not expect much water being let out until this slug goes on through. We are to get more rain next week after a pretty nice weekend. It could be another significant one. It would have been nice if we were at 547 instead of 553 going into the spring rains but it seems the only ones surprised are the ones managing the dams. Don't expect much don't get much. The average ambient daytime high is rising and is now 49-degrees and that is good. The surface water temperature was 46.5 when I came in last night just before dark and I was surprised how clear the main lake was in Blackburns area. It is very muddy in the backs of the creek with some small debris and that continues pretty far out towards the main lake and starts to clear as you get out to the entrance. It is more clear on the main lake river channel than it was before the rain but I am not sure what is coming down from Missouri but it has a lot of time to drop out before it gets here. I could see my lure down over 6-feet. So far things are just fine in this area but we do not need another one very soon. I fished a main lake brush pile for a few minutes with a jig and caught a couple of crappie but did not stay long. I have a lot of work to do here to get ready to open up more cabins in less than three weeks and have to spend more time making improvements instead of fishing but I will find a way to get some in every day and keep you informed about what is going on.  Blackburns will have no price increases again this year and if you feel you are being charged too much elsewhere give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115. Blackburns is the best value in the Ozarks. Stop by if you are in the area.
