Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

New thermal pane windows. They are bigger than they look. Maybe I am not holding them out far enough.  Wow do they cost a lot. #14 is next. Check out cabins on web site.Image titleImage title

The lake level is 553.58 and has dropped 3/4 inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running for about 18-hours. The White River at Newport is 17.39 feet and leveling off. We are now below the power pool of 553.75 and they are regulating to this level with no effort at a winter drawdown and increasing the chances of another high water year. It is like they want it. Blackburns has adapted to the high water in the last several years and you can always get to and from the dock no matter what level. Righ now you can drive or walk right down and step on. The big crappie are biting again off Blackburns Brush piles on spoons, jigs and minnows with slip floats and mostly in the evening. White Bass are ready to spawn and are on the bottom at 53-feet and pre-spawn feeding. Fish in the early morning, take the middle of the day off and go out again about 3:30 PM and fish until dark. Bass, walleye and crappie move up shallow in the evening to feed. We are releasing all walleye at this time as they are full of eggs and ready to spawn. Arkansas Game and Fish do not stock walleye anymore and the walleye rearing pond is broken and needs repair. Maybe the walleye club can help them with this. I hope they get it going soon as more and more people are coming here to walleye fish. Missouri continues to stock walleye every year and it is a good thing. Fishing for them is getting better and better here on Norfork and I would like it to continue. Blackburns is continuing it's policy of continued improvement with no price increases and has finished remodeling cabin #12, one of our 2-bedroom deluxes. The people that just left there said we should change the name to a super deluxe. #14 is almost done and just need the new windows. Included are new roof, laminate floors, kitchen cabinets and counter tops, ceilings, beds and bedding and appliances.  All of this comes with no price increases on anything again this year.  I am broke but everything is looking nice. I do not need any money to go on vacations as I am happy right here.
