Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 554.07 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously. The surface water temperature is also dropping and is just below 54 degrees. The main lake is clear and the creeks are still stained with last week's rain. The water near the shore is very clear. The White River at Newport is 16.23 feet.  It has been windy for a few days but that is to slow a bit tomorrow. Sunday is the choice day to go fishing as far as weather is concerned with highs in the mid 40's with light wind. It goes south after that with lows near 0 later on next week. It does not look good and is to be slow warming up. Thursday and Friday nights are to be the worst and it is not to get above freezing for several days. So much for global warming. We will keep you advised of what is happening. People that wanted the water to cool down to help striper fishing are going to get their wish. I do not know why. Stripers always get scarce in cold weather. No we are not near a shad kill. They start getting lethargic at 40-degrees and we are a long ways from that but it takes real cold weather to cool this deep lake but it has happened before. You will be the first to know. Again, no we are not on vacation spending your money, no, we are not closed, Yes, we are open all year and no we are not for sale and no there will be no price increases again this year.  I do not know where these rumors come from.
