Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Rum Binkley with some nice ones yesterday. WOW. That is what we want here at Blackburns. Image title

The lake level is 551.88 and is exactly what it was at this time yesterday with no generation since 9:PM last night. The White River at Newport is 3.68 feet and is about to dry up in the Calico Rock area. No winter draw down here. The surface water temperature is 58-degrees and fairly stable and the water is clearing in both the creeks and main lake. You can see your lure down about 6+ feet even on a cloudy day. It was very nice yesterday but got cold quick after sundowm. I came in just before dark and did not wear enough clothes. I am not one to charge out there before dawn in the freezing weather. I do not hate them that bad. I go out in the warmest part of the day and come in when it cools off and seem to catch a few fish. Open water fishing trolling for White Bass is the best with a few very small stripers and hybrids mixed in. Schools of shad are everywhere and many do not have any fish feeding on them but some do. Just keep dragging stuff through them and sooner or later a fish will bite. It will continue for a few minutes and then they are gone. More looking than fishing. Crappie are starting to go to brush piles as are black bass anywhere from 20-30 feet deep and near the bottom during the day and then come up at about 4:30PM shallow to feed until dark. They are good sized with very few small ones. Work main lake points with brush that the wind is blowing into. It is foggy most mornings and slow to burn off. It is to start raining in a couple of hours and I have to get a couple more cabins winterized before it gets cold again or the plumbing will begin. Blackburns was full until this morning and will have only five cabins open after today and they are open all year so come on down. We will not charge you too much and your first boat stall is free. Fishing is getting better and it needed to.
