Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns resort and Boat Rental.

A lot of trees mean a lot of leaves. The deciduous trees have lost all of their leaves. The ground is going to be white tomorrow. Yuk. Image title

The lake level is 552.68 and has dropped 1.2 inches in the last 24-hours with 3/4 of a generator running for about 7-hours in that period. The White River at Newport is at 6.39 feet and is about as high as it has been for weeks. It sure has not come out of Norfork. Bull Shoals is 11-feet below the top of the power pool and Norfork is 1-ft. below. I would ask why but there is nobody to ask because the government rules with anonymity and no acoountability. They are certainly not going by the rules and are making no attempt to drop the lake so far this fall. It is almost like they want it to flood out in the spring. The surface water is 63-degrees in the main lake and lower in the creeks especially in the shallow water near the shore. It has dropped from 67 to 63 since last Thursday. The water is clear and you can see your lure down 6-7 feet in the sunshine.  It is to rain this afternoon and snow tonight. I would be the first time we have received two snows in November that I can remember. I have been busy winterizing things from boats to water lines and have not shut down any cabins yet hoping for it to warm back up. It does not look like that will happen anytime soon. Now I have to start working on the leaves. I have a whole load of boat seats reupholstered and ready to put back on and more carpet to install in the boats. Blackburns has all laminate floors in the cabins and all of the carpet is gone. Good riddance. I wish it was the same for the boats. We continue to do improvements on the cabins and there will be no price increases again this year so far. We appreciate our customers and do not want to charge them too much. Most of them are repeat and have been coming back for years. If you have been coming to Blackburns for 20-years for a week you have saved a minimum of $6,000 just on cabins and $12,000 if you rented a boat also. Why pay more unless you just have too much money? Come check us out. You will like what you see. We are on city water not well water. That is good.
