Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Scuba Steve's Best fish yesterday. It was a slow day for me. Image title

The lake level is 552.85 and is the same as this time yesterday with part of one generator running about 3-hours. The White River at Newport is 4.47 feet and has come up a little but is still very low. It should be regulated to 12-feet. The surface water temperature was 67+ on the main lake where I was fishing yesterday and the water looks like it is continuing to clear from the surface but I did not go diving to see what is actually happening. That is the only way to really tell. I did on Wednesday and it was better. The fishing was tough for me and I was only able to catch a couple of keeper crappie, a few bluegill and some short bass. I was really looking for just one big walleye but they are ghosting me at this time. It had been a good run this fall. Some of the bass that had been in the backs of the creeks in the warmer stained water have moved now that it has cooled and the main lake is about the same as the creeks now. I found very little difference in water temperature where ever I went but the water was more clear on the main lake but the creeks are also clearing. It was sunny and in the high 60's with light winds and about a perfect day. Today is about the same. Everything is in excellent condition now after the rain and the drought is gone. I did see some white bass on the main lake in about 80-feet of water 35-ft. down part way around Mallard Point for those that are interested. I am not.  After having Norfork Lake walleye, crappie, bluegill, Kentucky Bass and Flathead catfish to eat you will throw the other ones back unless you cannot catch anything else. The best fishing is right at and just after sunset. Come on down to Blackburns. We will not charge you too much and a free boat stall comes with your cabin and we are still the home of the $59/day one beroom cabin and $77/day two bedroom. We put our customers ahead of money and especially welcome police and Veterans. You can save a lot of money by staying here an not sacrifice any quality and maybe increase it a bit.
