Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report, lake condition and fall foliage report by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Mikle with some nice ones yesteray diving. Image title

The lake level is 553.21 and is the same as this time yesterday with about 4-hours of running 3/4 of a generator. The White River at Newport is 2.90 feet and about ready to dry up indicating not much water is being released anywhere. The surface water was 74 on the main lake yesterday and 72 back in the creeks in the shallower water. The water is clearing everyday and the scuba conditions are excellent and the walleye have moved back in to the main lake points with the crappie already there. Some flatheads are on logs in shallow brush piles. Can't get much better than that. Blackburns is your Scuba Headquarters for Norfork lake with several rental dive boats at the best prices and Scuba Doo dive shop just 1/2 mile away. We will help you with the best places to go diving close by. Blkackburns has several fishermen in this week and they report catching some very nice bass yesterday before the cold front and then it slowed way down in the afternoon. I saw no difference in water conditions from the surface down to 35-ft. with several fish in both 18-ft. brush and 30-ft. brush. Bass, crappie, walleye and bluegill are all in the same place suspended but at different depths. Some very nice walleye have come in. Drop a spoon in and around the brush and you will be surprised what you catch.  The wind changed from the north to the west and was swirling down the river meandering channel and following the channel in the deep valleys. It is to continue to be windy the next couple of days making it hard to fish. If it is too windy just go part way back in the creek and pound the banks with a crankbait or creature bait on a jig head for bass.  It is best to find a bank where the wind is blowing directly into. It is hard to spoon in the wind but you can do it if you keep your boat directly in the wind and use your trolling motor to stay put keeping your line straight up and down. If you drag the spoon bring plenty of them. Blackburns still has cabins for $59/day and a free stall for your boat.so come on down. We will not charge you too much. We only got 0.1 inches of rain but it did help the fall foliage a bit especially on the roadways with the red color mostly sumac. My burning bush now has some red mixed in with the brown. It is beautiful here no matter the fall color and the lake is in great condition and fishing is getting better especially if you know where they are and we do. Make sure you use light clear line in the clearing water, 4-lb. for crappie and 6-lb. for bass especially when using a spoon or jig. Your lure does not work well dragging a log chain especially when the fish are hitting on the drop.
