Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat rental.

The lake level is 554.29 and has dropped 3/4 inch in the lst 24-hours with 3/4 of a generator running about 3/4 of the time. How is that for 3/4.  The surface water temperature is 80-degrees and dropping slowly. The visibility has increased in the last couple of days under water and both the main lake and creeks are clearing and in good condition for fishing, swimming, boating and Scuba Diving. The White River at Newport is at 4.37 feet and about ready to dry up which is an indicator that they are not letting much water out anywhere. The weather has been beautiful and people are taking avantage of the nice days and Blackburn's low off-season prices to have a peaceful and quiet early fall vacation. We are nearly full but have some openings starting today. I get asked "why is Blackburns nearly full and other places are nearly empty?" The answer is that Blackburns has the best place and at the best price and more and more people are finding that out. They also like meeting friends that they met here and enjoy seeing them again. It just keeps growing. They also like having a free boat stall with their cabin of stays of two days or more. People just do not like paying for their first boat stall and I do not blame them.  We cut a few trees down from my 26-acres of woods and drug them down to the dock to replentish under and around the dock and there are a lot of fish on them already. Blackburns has put in a lot of good brush piles over the years and we will show you where they are when you get here and which ones are the best and where the fish are located. You have to catch them yourself on the lake or under the dock. Right now the best bite on Norfork is crappie, Kentucky Bass, bluegill and catfish. John Bornhop caught a few White Bass on point 5- yestarday along with bass, bluegill and crappie. Dave Titus also caught some nice crappie and Mike Eakle caught bass and crappie. Fishing is not the best but is getting better as the water cools and it is nice to be out there. It is getting very dry and we could use some nice slow rain with no wind not what they are going to get in Florida in a couple of days. I wish them well. Come on down to Blackburns. We will not charge you too much and all cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches for shade and getting out of the rain while still being outside. Drop a spoon on main lake brush in about 25-30 ft. of water.
