Norfork Lake Arkansas Near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat RentalS

The lake level is 554.69 and is the same as this time yesterday with 3-hours of running 3/4 of a generator. The White River at Newport is 5.15 feet and very low.  Surface water temperature is 81-degrees and is staying the same even though the days are shorter but the high ambient temperatures are making up for it. Our normal high is 80 and we are in the mid 90's. Fishing is the same with crappie and bass being the best bite on main lake brush piles.with the best being on points.. You have to get down to them so spoons and jigs remain the best lures. Crappie are on top of the brush and roaming for food. They caught four nice catfish off my dock yesterday and many bluegill. They are well fed.The numbers of fish diminish as you move into the creeks as does the visibility. The fall foliage is turning a bit on the hillsides but is due to stress from lack of water and not fall and cooler temperatures.  The walnut trees are shedding leaves and are the first to do so.  It looks like we are still on schedule for a late October peak.  The lake is in excellent condition for boating, swimming, fishing and scuba diving. Come on down to Blackburns. We will not charge you too much and especially welcome Veterans and Police.  Bury the Queen already.
