The lake level is 555.16 and has dropped 2-inches in the last 24-hours with about 12-hours of running 1-1/2 generators. The White River at Newport is at 6.33 feet and dropping. The surface water temperature is 83-degrees and the lake is clearing after the holiday churning and is in good condition again for Suba Diving and fishing. As I have reported for several weeks many fish are on and around main lake points in 27-32 feet of water on brush. Blackburn's brush piles are now at perfect depths and there is not much sense going very far or fishing anyplace else. I wish more people would put in their own brush and help the fishing. If you do not stay here ask the place you stay if they put in brush or just use other people's. Walleye, crappie, bass and bluegill are all in the same places but at different depths. The 1/4 and 3/8th ounce Bink's Spoon is working the best vertical jigging right on and directly over the brush. White with a red eye and Arkansas shiners are working very well. The smaller spoon with anything red on it will catch some nice bluegill. You can catch all of the bluegill you want off docks with crickets on 2-4 pound test clear line on a #8 hook and very small split shot about 1-1/2 foot above the hook and casting it out an letting it sink into the brush also. Most docks with fishermen have brush under them.  Also casting a Bobby Garland Blue Ice Baby Shad on a 1/16th ounce white with red eye jig head past the brush and letting it sink into it and a slip float with live minnows set about 5-feet deeper than you can see are all catching crappie. If you cannot do any of these things dragging a crankbait with a weight attached to the line to get it down 25-30 feet will catch fish but does not require much skill and gets hung up in the brush where the fish are. Trolling and brush do not get along very well. This is an excellent time for fishing with the best combination of weather and fishing since April. Come on down to Blackburns and take advantage of the off-season rates and a free boat stall comes with your cabin. Compare prices and then give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 to get the cabin of your choice. We will not charge you too much. We fill up first and then you have to pay much more elsewhere.
