Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Scuba Steve with a couple of pretty good ones. We do not see how many we can kill here. My limit is 5.Image title

The lake level is 557.24 and has dropped 2-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running from about noon to midnight. No wade fishing on the rivers during the afternoon. The White River at Newport is 12.13 feet and steady. They are now predicting the lake will reach the power pool of 555.75 on August 25th. It is a good level but does not leave much room for rain. We received 1-inch of rain on Tuesday night with no wind. It was needed and the grass is really green again. Maybe the farmers can get a second cutting of hay. It was not looking good a few weeks ago. The lake is in excellent condition for boating, swimming, diving and fishing. The thermocline is at 30-feet and the water is pretty clear down to there with visibility good for spear fishing. Most of the mudline has gone away. Surface water temperature is 83-84 degrees. The walleye and crappie have moved into blackburns brush piles and are at 30-ft. Largemouth bass, crappie, Kentucky Bass, Smallmouth Bass and walleye are all together at the 30-ft. level with bluegill a little shallower. There is no sense fishing deeper than 35-ft as there is very little oxygen there except for the oxygen bubble down by the dam at 90-120 feet. I do not fish for those fish because all of them die when brought up and you do not know how big they are when they bite. Come on down to Blackburns and join the fun. They are catching a lot of big bluegill and a few catfish off the dock. Blackburns has trhe best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks and all cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches. A free boat stall comes with your cabin.
